Beating the Holiday Hangover
The holidays are especially busy with events to both attend and throw. The holiday hustle and bustle can be exhausting! Here are some tips for beating the event hangover.
Sleep
This one is obvious, but often completely overlooked. You can never underestimate the power of sleep. Finding some time to get some extra zzz's can leave you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the post-event tasks. The holidays can prove to be stressful and that means that we need more time dedicated to our pillows once we're through the chaos!
Get back to your routine
The holidays throw a wrench into our typical routines. Some of us are on vacation and are staying up late and sleeping late too, others are eating foods that were not on their pre-holiday diet, still others are socializing more than they're used to, which can be exhausting if that's not typical for you. Getting back to a routine that you know can be refreshing after the holidays. It provides stability and a reassurance because you know what to expect.
Celebrate
I don't mean throw another party, but instead celebrate that you made it to the other side of the parties. It's all over, and you can get back to a regular routine again! Celebrate that you survived the large family gathering without incident or running around to see all your old friends when you're back in your hometown for the holidays. After the holidays, you can look back fondly at the memories you made this year and reminisce about all the great times. Pat yourself on the back and celebrate! YOU DID IT!!
Look Ahead
Start looking forward to the year ahead. January is the time that so many people try and make a fresh start. Use this opportunity to do just that! The New Year is a great time to begin something new and try something different this year. I don't know what it is about a New Year, but looking ahead provide a great motivation and cure for the holiday hangover!
