What qualities make a masterful event planner?

Going from good to great is something that most people in their profession strive for and event planning is no different. So what makes a regular event planner a masterful one?

Vision

Event planners are visionaries in their own way. A great event planner can see everything coming together in a way that makes an event look flawless. Understanding and visualizing the big picture allows a planner to keep things in perspective and work towards the mission. 

Thoroughness

The devil is in the details. Expert event planners have thought through all the details relating to an event. Everything from the lighting, RSVP list, marketing, and budget are all taken care of. Having great organizational skills doesn't hurt either. 

Drive

A "go-getter" attitude is essential because once an event planner has their massive to-do list together, it's important that they see it through no matter what. Events don't always go as planned, but having the drive to push through rather than crumble is essential. Being able to react to a problem and push through it is key. 

Serenity

Event planners usually make the juggling act look easy. Being able to "roll with the punches" is key to success. Many can be described like ducks on a pond. Everything looks calm on the surface, but their feet are kicking like made beneath the water. As long as they maintain a calm demeanor everyone else around them will too. As "Seinfeld" put it, "Serenity now, insanity later."

Heart

"Phoning it in" just isn't in an event planner's nature. Not only do they make everything happen behind the scenes during an event, but they truly do care about the event itself. They put their heart and soul into every event to make the event look flawless and their clients look like geniuses.
