Baby Shower Event Success!
Over the weekend I assisted in throwing a baby shower for my dear friends Blake and Lauren. They are expecting a baby boy. Obviously throwing events is my passion, and writing about them here is my second passion. So I have to say that I was not initially in charge of this event, I was simply called into assist and I happily did. My event responsibilities included decor and games! How I love decor and games! I really wanted Lauren to feel special and was so excited to be a small part of this special day to celebrate her growing family!
Lauren's friend (and now my friend), Brandi and I worked hand in hand to make this event a memorable one. Brandi selected a superhero theme, since the lovely couple is all about superheros. Brandi worked on the invitations leading up to the event and managing the RSVPs as well as the food. She even asked everyone to don their favorite superhero tees and many obliged.
This divide and conquer method to event planning really worked. Brandi and I played off one another seamlessly! We each knew our roles and focused all of our efforts on our tasks.
Now I have to say that I only had about 4 days to work on the games and decor for this event, but I think it went over pretty well! Here are some photos of the fantastic event!
Baby Games
As I mentioned, I was in charge of a few games. These are the winners for our games!
Daddy Knows Best
The most important thing about planning games at a baby shower is to try not to be too corny and make sure it is all about the couple. I secretly made Blake answer some questions about babies and then asked everyone to write down what they think Blake said. This got everyone involved and added some fun to the event.
Name Game
We also had a guess the baby name game. Prior to the party, Blake and Lauren had not revealed the name of their baby, so we all took our best guesses on what the baby's name could be. We got to reveal all of them to the couple and of course they took none of them under advisement, which is how it should be! Though the most notable name was Ka Powell! A play on Ka-Pow! Kudos to Christine Collier on the creativity of that one.
Baby Bucket List
Our final game was to create a baby bucket list for the couple to do in the first year of the baby's life. These are things that other parents wished they would have done, or photos they wanted to take, or moments they wanted to cherish. For those that don't yet have kids, they added things that they thought the couple should do that maybe their parents did with them. I think the parents-to-be have some great ideas to start with, and some silly ones too!
