I called my brother back in January and said, I just finished creating my first Prezi presentation! To say I was proud of my creation was an understatement. I asked him, "Have you used Prezi for lectures in your classroom?" I was clearly not expecting his response, since I'm the older sister I clearly needed to flaunt my knowledge about this cool tool. He said, "I exclusively use Prezi for all my presentations. I have been using it for years and I might have close to 200 presentations made." My gold star I had given myself became a little less shiny and bright. So while I may not be the "more knowledgeable sibling" in being first to use the technology, I still think it speaks to the power of the tool. I mean over 200 Prezi presentations? Power user much?
If you're looking for the next "wow factor" for your presentation I recommend Prezi. It is a high flying (literally you fly) web-based presentation software. It is naturally engaging and keeps your attendees focused. The best part? It's free, with the option to upgrade to unlock more features.
To create a Prezi takes some getting used to, like any new technology, but I'm sure with a little effort great photos and a clear course map you too can make stellar presentations!
Rather than be confined to a set box as you are in PowerPoint you can zoom in and out of an image, add YouTube videos seamlessly, as well as text, additional photos, and music. You can even import existing presentations and use those images to create your very first Prezi, or use one of the existing templates as a jumping off point.
