The Greatest Show Yet: Baby Number Seven

Rivenbark AI Video Announces Baby Number 7

When you are announcing your seventh baby, you know there will be opinions.

Some people will be thrilled. Some will be surprised. Some will immediately start doing math that no one asked them to do—children, bedrooms, car seats, grocery bills and years spent changing diapers.

And then there will be the internet naysayers.

Those are easy enough to ignore. Strangers on the internet do not know our family. They do not see the noise, the laughter, the chaos, the teamwork, the inside jokes or the enormous amount of love packed inside our home.

But when the negativity comes from someone close to you, it lands differently.

Before we shared our announcement video, I called a close family member to tell them our news. Their immediate response was:

“Oh no!”

I explained that we were excited. I said that babies are blessings.

“I guess,” they replied.

I tried once more to share our joy. “Who knows? This one might change the world.”

Their response?

“You will never get out of diapers.”

Then came, “You’re going to need a bigger house.”

I found myself defending our decision with practical details. We already have four bedrooms. We are putting an addition on the house. We have a plan. We can make the space work.

But why did I feel as though I had to prove that our family deserved to grow?

A baby’s worth is not determined by the square footage of a house. Love is not limited by the number of bedrooms, and joy should not have to pass a logistical inspection before it is allowed to exist.

Maybe I will spend more years changing diapers than I ever imagined. Maybe our house will always be loud. Maybe the laundry will never be finished, someone will always need a snack, and peaceful family photos will remain a logistical impossibility.

But I refuse to believe that a life’s value can be measured by its inconvenience.

This baby is not an extra expense, another load of laundry, a housing problem or an extension of the diaper years. This baby is a person—already loved, already wanted and already an irreplaceable part of our family.

And yes, maybe this baby will change the world.

Maybe one of our children will cure a disease, write a book, build something extraordinary or lead others through difficult times. Or perhaps they will change the world in quieter ways—by raising kind children, helping a neighbor, encouraging someone who is struggling or making one person feel less alone.

Most people who change the world do not realize they are doing it.

To celebrate our news, we created a ridiculously fun AI video featuring each member of our family as a circus act. Honestly, the circus felt fitting. Our life is colorful, unpredictable, occasionally chaotic and full of people performing impressive feats just to get everyone out the door on time.

There are plenty of moving parts. Someone may be flying through the air. Someone else is probably juggling. At least one child is attempting something that should require a safety waiver.

But underneath the spectacle is a family that genuinely loves being together.

Our announcement was not a request for approval. It was an invitation to celebrate with us.

Not everyone will accept that invitation, and I am learning to be okay with that. We cannot control the reactions of other people. We can only decide how much space those reactions are allowed to occupy in our joy.

So, yes, the circus is growing.

We are adding another act, another personality, another seat at the table and another little person who will forever change the shape of our family.

We may add more square footage. We will certainly buy more diapers. But neither of those things could ever outweigh the love this baby adds to our home.

Baby number seven is on the way.

We are not saying, “Oh no.”

We are saying, “Welcome to the greatest show yet.”
