Running in heels

For those of you that know me, you know that I am notorious for wearing heels during conferences and at work. The only downside is when you need to run for something. Today was a running day.

Running conferences does not usually mean physically running, but if that is what is required then that is what you do.

So I ran. I ran food from the kitchen to the meeting space. The reason I had to run is because there was confusion in the kitchen about what orders were placed. I thought that giving the kitchen a spreadsheet was making the process simple for the kitchen. I provided them a spreadsheet and individual orders that came in late, but when only the individual orders came out it was apparent that there was some confusion.

Even after explaining this to the gentleman in charge it still seemed lost in translation. Only after multiple times did it become clear what we needed.

We had 3 lunch meeting going on at the same time and the list of people attending was expansive. Waiting for lunches to come out feels like forever when you know people are waiting. Thus, my running food from one room to another.

I'd like to say the kitchen recovered, but that actually wasn't the case. Instead, I was left with angry clients, which was expected and I can't say I blame them. Of course, I was also angry because I pride myself on running smooth conferences and the service I received was haphazard.

Needless to say, I don't think we'll be returning to this hotel.

The gentleman in charge of the restaurant did apologize again and wound up buying my lunch. It was a nice gesture, but I would have rather he discount the lunches of those that had to wait.
