When Gardner was about 6 months old we moved him to the regular bath tub. He could sit up on his own, and was quickly outgrowing the little bathtub we had used inside the big one.
One night during bath time Gardner was sitting in the bath and reaching for his ducks. He managed to have two of the three ducks in his hands. He was determined to get that third duck at all costs. I pushed it towards him, but had no expectation that he would find a way to pick up all three ducks.
Boy was I wrong!
Gardner tried a few times to pick up the elusive third duck with his hands, but in order to do that he had to drop one of the ducks in his hands. Then I saw the moment that it clicked in his head. What would he do next?
He took one of the ducks in his hand put it in his mouth and reached for the third duck. He had successfully picked up all three ducks. He looked at me proudly, smiled and laughed. As did I. When he laughed that third duck dropped out of his mouth and he was back to chasing it with his hands coaxing it to him.
This is just one of many funny moments that I've had with Gardner. It's also one where I realized that my kid might turn out to be smarter than me. I'm in for it!
