5 Podcasts for the Busy Event Professional

I am a podcast junkie. I have 30 podcasts that I subscribe to in iTunes. I listen to these on my commute and it helps to pass the time. Not all of these podcasts are weekly, but I love when my podcast app is full of great listening material. Here are my top 5 podcasts that every event professional should be listening to. You can click on each logo to subscribe too!

Meetings Podcast

This is probably the best podcast to listen to if you want to catch up on all the latest industry news. The daily episode is just 8-9 minutes long and includes a round-up of the latest meeting and events industry articles. Rather than scour the internet for the latest meeting news you can get an overview of what people are talking about all in one place. If one of the featured articles are of interest to you then you can search for it later once you get to work. I always start my day off listening to the Meetings Podcast and it is especially perfect for those that have short commutes to work.

Happier with Gretchen Rubin

Gretchen Rubin is a writer who studies habits and human nature. She is a best-selling author and she, along with her sister, Elizabeth Craft, co-host the Happier podcast. This weekly podcast provides happiness hacks and strategies to improve your daily life. I love the advice that Gretchen and Elizabeth give on their podcast. Their tips and tricks help me to stay focused and form great habits that I can use in both my professional and personal life.

techsytalk unscripted

Techsytalk is hosted by two event professionals Liz King and Ed Waffles. They tout to be the only podcast for event planners, by event planners. They interview industry professionals that are on top of their game. I love hearing about the latest and greatest technology tools for event professionals and from other people in the industry that are "hustling hard" just like me. They keep their show to just 30 minutes, and they stick to it.

This Is Your Life with Michael Hyatt

This podcast helps any professional get more out of life. It has great tips to be organized, obtain the ever sought after concept of work-life balance, and how to be a better leader. Michael Hyatt is also a New York Times Bestselling author. This is a new podcast I've picked up lately and so far I really like what Michael has to say about living life better.

TEDTalks

Every time I listen to a podcast I feel enlightened. It always amazes me about how brilliant people are. I am seriously in awe of all the TEDTalk presenters. There are a number of TEDTalk podcast genres and each has its own podcast including education, kids and family, science and medicine, and business, among others. You can search for TEDTalks in the iTunes podcast app and pick your favorite genres, or if you're like me you can subscribe to them all! These are not posted on a schedule, but I'm always pleasantly surprised to find the latest post in my app. I find that expanding my knowledge apart from what I'm initially drawn to is enriching. I learn something in the process and begin to think differently.
