Gardner was sitting on the stool of the island in the kitchen and trying to peel the sticker off the oranges and bananas that were sitting in the bowl. I helped him, so that he wouldn't mutilate the fruit. As he was doing this, I thought of a trick that my brother and I used to plan on my dad when we were kids.
My brother and I would also peel the stickers off the bananas, but rather than stick it to the wall or counter, or put them in the garbage, we would stick it to dad's back. We would give him hugs or sit behind him and rub his shoulders and then nonchalantly put the sticker on his back. We would giggle.
It was always placed to particularly so that dad couldn't easily reach it when he took a shower. That place on your back that you just can't seem to get whether your reach over your head or up your back.
Sometimes he would catch us, but more often than not the stickers we put on dad's back would stay for days and weeks. Sometimes dad would find the sticker and sometimes we would tell him that he had been "banana boy" for the past 2 weeks. We were so proud of ourselves.
"Doh!" Dad would say. "How long have I been banana boy?" We would laugh and laugh. We loved to "monkey around" with him it was just so "a-peeling."
