Oh how life comes full circle. I had a recent request from the Global Affairs office to organize a tour to Washington D.C. for a group of international students. Flashbacks of Study Tours came flooding back. I worked to plan a great itinerary for the group and thought I would send them on their merry way. That did not go as planned.
The week before the group was going on tour the Director that was supposed to accompany the group broke her foot and no one else in her office could go. So, I agreed to go in her place.
The first thing I did was go rummaging through my electronic files to find the Rider Counselor guide. Now I was set to give tour information to the group. Reviewing it made me realize that it was going to be like riding a bike. The memorized facts about the monuments came flooding back to me.
I arrived this morning to get on the bus and help the students with their luggage. As I got on the bus, the seat next to the driver was already taken! For those of you that have ever worked Study Tours, you know I was twitching at this discovery! However, because the group is small, just nine students I decided to let it go and sit in the next available seat.
The next three days will prove to be an adventure!
