Dear Daughter, I have so many hopes for you

Dear Daughter,

Your little personality has come out so much in the past few months. Although you are only two, it makes me think about all the hopes I have for you.

I hope you always remember to laugh. Laugh at yourself, find the humor in your misfortunes, laugh because it’s fun, laugh so hard you cry, or laugh because you’re crying.

I hope you are never afraid to get dirty. Roll up your sleeves and dig in. Dig into the dirt, dig into crafts, dig into life, squeeze the most out of it.

I hope you always keep your curiosity. Keep your wonder and keep asking questions. Ask when something doesn’t make sense, ask because you want to know why, ask because learning opens your mind.

I hope you’re never afraid to dance in the rain. Be daring. Do things that others won’t and be joyful doing it. Push the boundaries and be bold. Dance like no one is watching. Be fearless.

I hope you pursue your passion. Never be afraid to be different and follow the things you love. Chase your dreams.

I hope you live life with no regrets. Make decisions you’re proud of and stand by them. Say yes to being a part of a team. Don’t stand on the sidelines while life passes you by.

I hope that when life knocks you down you sucker punch it right back. I hope you’re always sparky, sassy, and determined.

I hope you love with all your heart. I hope you’re never afraid to love, even if it means you get your heart broken. Don’t be afraid to cry and mourn your broken heart. Learn from your experiences, but don’t let a broken heart stop you from loving again… and again.

I hope you remember your roots even when you grow wings. Use your roots to launch into life. I hope you know that if life throws you a curve ball you can always come back to your roots. Our door will always be open.

Finally, I hope you get to write a letter like this to your daughter one day. I know you will do great things, ask great questions, have fun, and love life to the fullest and someday you too will have great wisdom to share with her.

Love,

Mama
