He Said What to the Doctor?!?!?! Part 2

My dear husband Jerry has a tendency to speak his mind regardless of the situation. Yet, his frankness and candor keeps me both laughing and honest about life. Here is a follow-up to my previous post, He Said What to the Doctor?!?!?!. If you missed it be sure to read it because it's a funny one. This post is unrelated to the previous post, but it gives you some insight into his interaction with our OBGYN.

We went to find out the sex of our second child a few months ago. Let me start by saying that Jerry and I didn't actually care either way, boy or girl. The verdict? It's a girl! Of course we are thrilled! But we both know that in some ways it will be different raising a girl than it has been raising a boy.

After the ultrasound reveal we went to see our OBGYN. "So we're having a girl? Are we excited? One of each," he asked.

Jerry began. "Well, I don't mean to be crude."

Oh here we go again...

"When you have a boy, you only have to worry about one penis. When you have a girl, you have to worry about all the penises."

*Cue my palm to my face and shaking of my head* At the same time, I'm not surprised.

At this point, Jerry's comments are not at all surprising to our OBGYN. After all, he did describe me as his trophy wife and talked about trading me in for a younger model. (See previous post He Said What to the Doctor?!?!?! for full details).

Our OBGYN chuckled, "That's fair." He has daughters of his own that are relatively close to my age, so he also knows what it's like to be a dad to girls. Thank goodness he can empathize with Jerry's response.

We are just weeks away from welcoming a little girl and I'm guessing Jerry is thinking about getting his defenses in place to ward off all the future boys that take interest in our little girl. Good luck Caitiejane is about all I can say.
