Any other virtual school moms out there ready for summer? I know I am! After a half virtual, half in-person school year I'm ready for my lounge chair and a summer without virtual school, masks, and pandemic. I'm leaving it all behind and celebrating with this parody of "Hey, Look Ma I Made It". Enjoy!
101 Things to Do This Summer (with Kids)
I don’t know if it’s coming out of the pandemic, or doing virtual school at my dining room table for half the year, or just wanting to commemorate the summer with my first kiddo finishing kindergarten, but I felt like we needed a reward for all our hard work and being cooped up at home for the last year. As a result, the kids and I made a “Summer Fun List”.
I phoned in my "mom responsibilities" last week... then I called in reinforcements
Last week was “Career Day” at Gardner’s school. This meant that on Friday, Gardner needed to go to school dressed up as what he wanted to be when he grew up. I knew about this on Monday, so we had all week to get his costume together. Simple enough right?… Sure!… If you remember that it’s Career Day on Friday, but if you completely forget about the teacher’s note as soon as you read it until Friday morning when Gardner says he needs to dress up as a recycling man… then not so much.
Our family birthday shtick
There are a lot of us that celebrate birthdays each year where I live. In addition to me, my husband, and our four kids, my husband’s parents live next to us, and his brother lives behind us. Then there’s our two friends who live with us and their two kids (part-time). Needless to say, there are A LOT of birthdays.

The Path to Making Good Choices
Why you need an emergency fund... because 2020
Welcome to 2021!! The year where the only thing we’re hoping for is that it will be better than the dumpster fire of 2020. I’m sure many of you are working on your New Year’s resolutions, I know I am. If 2020 has taught me nothing else, it’s the importance of having an emergency fund and living on a budget.
A look back on 2020
My third kid is going to think his name is "Dang it!"
I have a funny, independent, hot-headed, daredevil of a third child. I’m not sure if it is just the byproduct of being the third child, but he has been a climber more than the two kids before him. It’s possible that he learned everything he knows from them. It’s possible that he just goes missing because he’s the third of four kids. It’s possible that he was just born this way. It’s also possible that I just don’t have anymore “f***s" to give… because, you know, he’s not the last kid. Whatever the case, I find myself saying, “Dang it Steele!!” every time he does something.
