Why Hire a Great Photographer?

Photography is one of those things that we sometimes forget about when it comes to events. My most recent encounter with this was a few weeks ago. I wish that I had a professional photographer to document Gardner's 1st birthday. Because there is so much involved in the details of your event, taking photos can often slip your mind. Having a great photographer can truly make a difference. Which leads me to the Spartan (again).

WE ARE SPARTANS!

Jerry, his friend Chris, and I all ran the Spartan Sprint last Saturday at the Smith Lake Recreation Area near Fort Bragg, Fayetteville. It was a tough 5.5 miles, but we triumphed! So now everyone's favorite part, my review of the race.

So You're Going to Host the Pope (or some other important person)

Last week I wrote about how Philadelphia has stumbled in their plans to host the Pope in September. You can read about the story here. While the comedy isn't over, it's a great opportunity to talk about some of the nuances of hosting a large scale city-wide event for a VIP.

Philadelphia's Pope Woes

For anyone that doesn't know, Pope Francis is planning to visit Philadelphia at the end of September. The city is busy preparing for his arrival and stumbling at every turn.  I keep sitting back thinking, why can't Philadelphia get it together?  New York City doesn't seem to have a problem hosting millions of people on New Year's Eve, why is this so difficult?

A NYC Ticker-Tape Parade

The US Women's National Team were honored with a ticker-tape parade in New York City on Friday.  Their triumphant win during the Women's World Cup Final against Japan earned them the opportunity to make history yet again.  Not only are the US Women the only team in the world to win 3 World Cups, but this is also the first time that a women's team has ever been honored on the Canyon of Heroes, along Broadway.
